How to build an off-grid solar cabin

Have you ever imagined a scenario where one day you have your own secret base in the forest, where you can do whatever you want, even have a party, without worrying about being complained by your neighbors?

Have you ever imagined a scenario where one day you have your own secret base in the forest, where you can do whatever you want, even have a party, without worrying about being complained by your neighbors?

Why not stop imagining it and let’s work together to make it an achievable reality! But we have to know that such a secret base can be more than just a cabin. If we want to really put it into use, we must provide it with water and electricity, so that it can become a perfect base that meets our expectations.

If the cover area of this secret base is 100 square meters, then usually its roof can have at least 50 square meters of area for laying solar panels, which is of great help to us in obtaining electricity, because we cannot expect one to be hidden in the forest If there are cables between the secret base and the government power grid, the subsequent maintenance cost will be too high. So having said that, assuming we use solar panels with an efficiency of 20% and the power produced by each square meter of solar panels is 200 watts, then the total power of the solar panels will be:

50㎡x 200W/㎡=10000W=10kW

Next, we need to consider daylight hours and sun intensity. Assuming that our area has an average of 5 hours of sufficient sunshine per day, and the sunshine intensity is 1000 watts/square meter, then the total amount of solar energy that the solar panels can receive every day is:

5 h x 1000W/㎡x50㎡=250000Wh=250kWh

Of course, this is an estimate and actual conditions may vary. Finally, we compare this total to your house's daily energy needs to determine if solar power can meet our needs.

The next step is of course to calculate what equipment we need. You must know that the main purpose of our secret base is for entertainment, and we prefer entertainment facilities. Here are some electrical appliances I selected that I think are necessary and Corresponding power:

Refrigerator/freezer: 500 watts

Oven/microwave: 1500 watts

Grill/Oven: 2000 Watts

Sound system: 300 watts

Lighting: 100 watts

Charging device: 50 watts

Air conditioner: 3000 watts

Washing machine: 1000 watts

Shower water heater: 5000 watts

Projector/TV: 300 watts

Water pump: 1000 watts

Water purifier: 50 watts

Now we add these powers:

500W+1500W+2000W+300W+100W+50W+3000W+1000W+5000W+300W+1000W+50W=14,853W=14.853kW

Among them, the oven can be replaced with a charcoal grill. From this point of view, the power provided by the solar panels is completely sufficient for our use. We only need to prepare a large enough inverter for our secret base or for different We can solve our problem by preparing multiple low-power inverters in each room.
