What’s the suitable battery used for the inverter ?
With the continuous updating and iteration of new technologies and new materials, there are more and more battery types on the market. The mainstream battery types include lead-acid battery, gel battery and lithium battery. Their capacity ranges from 6Ah to 2000Ah. Voltage is the first consideration when selecting battery for your inverter. If your inverter is a 12V input, you need to configure a 12V battery or multiple 12V batteries for parallel use. Never connect the inverter with a battery with a voltage of 24V or above, which will cause the risk of burning and explosion, and will not be covered by the factory warranty.
Secondly, configure batteries with appropriate capacity: This needs to be selected according to your daily use of electricity, whether the national power grid is powered off and rainy weather. For example, if the total power consumption per day is 1kwh, then you need to buy at least one piece 12V100Ah battery. If you consider that the battery cannot be charged due to power failure or rainy weather, or the battery cannot be charged by the solar panels, you need to prepare more batteries storage, such as continuous raining for 2 days, You need to configure two pieces of 12V100Ah batteries. If the power failure lasts for 3 days, you need to configure three pieces 12V100Ah batteries.
Thirdly, Select the appropriate battery type: for different groups of customers, you can choose different types of batteries. If your budget is low and the battery life is not high, you can choose lead-acid batteries, which will have a high quality-cost performance, but the service life is expected to be 5-6 years. If your budget is moderate and the requirement for battery service life is moderate, you can choose gel battery for inverter, with service life expected to be 7-8 years. If you have a higher budget and require a longer service life of the battery, you can choose lithium battery, which is expected to have a service life of more than 10 years, but the price of lithium battery is more than twice that of lead-acid battery.
Currently, there is a new hybrid inverter with inbuilt MPPT solar charge controller, AC battery charger. If the solar power exceeds 80% and above, the 3500W and 5500W solar hybrid inverter could power AC load without battery. but this is not sustainable. It can only be achieved when the solar light is very strong. It is recommended to configure some batteries to properly and reduce the total quantity of batteries.
