Can I Connect Ups In Between A Computer And An Inverter
In the modern life, computer is used more and more widely in the world.
It’s powered 110VAC or 127Vac or 230Vac from country grid power. But in some countries or areas, the country grid power is not stable and failure often or suddenly, so a UPS is suggested to connect with your computer. The aim is to save the memory data in case of power failure. The switching speed of the inverter is not sufficient to save your unsaved data. However, the UPS switches to ON very rapidly, so the memory contents will not be lost.
Can I connect UPS in between a computer and an inverter?
UPS is named by Uninterruptible power supply, there is two kinds of waveform in our factory: modified sine wave UPS and pure sine wave UPS.
The power range is from 600W minimum up to 6000W maximum. The input & output battery voltage is 12V or 24V or 48V and input & output AC voltage is 110Vac or 127Vac or 220Vac. The difference between modified sine wave UPS and pure sine wave UPS is transfer time, suitable AC appliances and unit price.
The transfer time of pure sine wave UPS is faster than modified sine wave UPS, so if you use a UPS on your computer, we suggest pure sine wave UPS. Your present inverter could pure sine wave or modified sine wave with very small difference. The pure sine wave inverter UPS could be used on all AC loads such as resistive load, capacitive load and inductive load.
While for modified sine wave UPS, we suggest it only being used on resistive load and capacitive load because it may damage the inductive load. The price of pure sine wave UPS is about 1.5 times than modified sine wave UPS because of the waveform of pure sine wave is almost same as waveform of country grid power.
The choice of UPS and battery is depending on your power failure duration.
For example, your computer is 200W and power off failure duration is 4 hours, you’d better choosing a 600W pure sine wave UPS, the power consumption during the 4 hours power off period is 4 hours* 200W = 800Wh, so the battery capacity is at least 800Wh/12V=66.66Ah, in order to extend battery life, we suggest you using a 80Ah GEL or AGM battery with 600W pure sine wave UPS.
When the country grid power comes back, 600W pure sine wave UPS will automatically switch to battery charger mode: your computer will be powered by country grid power and the 80Ah battery will be charged by inbuilt battery charger 12V/10A, and battery will be fully charged within 7 hours. When country grid power is off again, 600W pure sine wave UPS will quickly switch to inverter mode again.
