What is a portable power station and its main features?
Power capacity(Watts):
Since the power station can replace the generator, the question we get as well is that how much power does it have comparing to a generator? It is kind like asking about an electric car’s range compared to a gas engine car, it’s a little bit of apples and oranges. We don’t think about range on a gas engine car, because it is so easy to refill it and keep going. These do have a concept of range, because they are harder to refill. I’d ask about watt hour, that’s the best overall metric when you want to know how much power do these have. This is the 1000 watt hour power station , it means that you an run 1W load for 1000 hours or any combination that leads up to the same total.
Real world usage:
For example, you are going to power a 150W TV, the power station can offer roughly 6 and half hours of run time of the TV. The power station have lots of modern USB ports, so don’ t even worry about how much you an run your USB, just know that you got USB on there, it will charge your cell phones so many times, you will lose track.
The power station is not jus for charging phones, it is for doing a lot more. The outlet come out of there is for household appliances.
Charging:
How do you put a charge back into the power station if you have used it up. The easiest and most efficient way is to plug it into the wall which is great if you have access to wall power. It come with a pretty stout charger which is a heavy duty wall charger that plug into the round power outlets. It also can be charged off of solar panels that you can optionally purchase to go with this. There is one more question : What power are you going to have available to you? Is the station for camping and going off the grid on a planned basis ? In such case, you are going to charge off the wall, it is easy and quick. If it is for emergency where you may not have power for a long time, then you can think about charge with solar panel. Getting a set of panels connected in series or in parallel you can charge the power station during the day and run them all day and all night. That is a very good scenario for those that are trying to have backup as supposed to planned off the grid use. The other idea is to charge this off of a car, you can charge it off of a cigarette lighter, but it is very slow compared to other methods.
Features:
The power station have a great display that will show the mode you are in, what is the remaining capacity, what the power is drawing , charging state, etc. The unit have a little LED flashlight built into it which can be used in a tent and camping situation.
