Should inverter be on when plugged into shore power
So first of all, what we need to know is the working principle of the inverter,Almost everyone knows that an inverter is a tool that converts direct current into alternating current,Therefore, in our RV, the inverter is essential, because the power of the RV usually comes from the battery installed inside the RV,The inverter can convert the electric energy stored in the battery into the alternating current required by household appliances, so that we can use household appliances such as TVs, computers, induction cookers, and kettles in the RV.
So next, let's take a look at our problem, should inverter be on when plugged into shore power? My point is that it depends on the power supply inside the RV system. Why do I say that? Because the charging methods used by different RVs are often different.
Some RVs use a solution to provide power conversion for the RV through an inverter and charging all-in-one machine (such as CARSPA’s CPS series inverter) ,In this case, there is no need to turn on the inverter when plugged into shore power cause at this time, the power source in the RV is directly obtained through the shore power, not through the inverter.Even if the inverter function on the inverter is turned on, it will not work. But usually, we don't recommend turning on the inverter, because it will increase the loss of the inverter.
Another charging solution is to use a separate charger inside the caravan to charge the power supply of the caravan, instead of using an all-in-one machine with integrated functions to complete the functions of inverter and charging at the same time. The advantage of this method is that both the charger and the inverter can be customized, and customers can choose a charger (such as CARSPA’s EBC series battery charger , which could make the battery have a longer life)and an inverter that are more suitable for them according to their needs. But the disadvantage is that this method can’t use shore power when battery is charged by shore power. This kind of charging solution sometimes is not as convenient as last solution, users should better not use inverter when battery was charged by shore power.
In summary,we need to know the power structure inside our RV,then we can know if it is possible to turn on the inverter while charging,But one thing needs to be noted, no matter what kind of structure of the power supply system, we do not recommend using the inverter while charging, because sometimes it can be dangerous.
